Georgian Interior Minister Alexander Chikaidze met Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev today, Trend reports.Aliyev reminded about his recent visit to Georgia and noted the importance of strengthening strategic cooperation between the two states. The president and the minister exchanged opinions about development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia, emphasizing on contacts of their Interior Ministries.
The Muslims Union of Georgia has organized an international conference on Prophet Mohammad in Batumi. Kyrgyz ex-President Askar Akayev said at the Moscow Economic Forum that large geopolitical players were fighting for integration of post-Soviet states in their own economy. He emphasized that there was no other way to develop, besides integration. The ex-president pointed out Moldova and Georgia who were among the targets Europe tried to drag into its economy. Akayev assures that only strong regional integration would help Russia and CIS states to achieve world-level development.

Azerbaijan and Georgia will delimit 180km of their border, said Garib Mamedov, Head of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Land and Cartography, Georgia Online reports.He noted that Azerbaijani specialists had visited Georgia twice and chose the territories the borderline will run through.Georgia borders with seven Azerbaijani districts. Their border line is 480km long. The sides have delimited 300km of their border.

The main topic of the regional conference held today in the Georgian region of Kakheti were the advantages and opportunities of territorial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia. The conference's theme is "The way to strengthen territorial cooperation of the Eastern Partnership countries: the program of territorial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia." Common problems of economic and social development of the border areas of the two countries have been in the focus of discussion.
